Sabalenka Defeats Close Friend to Reach Fourth Round

Aryna Sabalenka continued her quest for a first French Open title by fighting past best friend Paula Badosa to reach the fourth round of the tournament. The No. 3 seed from Belarus won the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, despite losing the first set and trailing 4-1 in the second set. Sabalenka will face No. 15 seed Victoria Azarenka in the next round.

Badosa, who was looking for her first win over Sabalenka since the 2021 WTA Finals, led 4-1 in the second set but was unable to hold on to her advantage.
